Fire Damage Smoke Damage in Nevada: How Bad is it? A layer of soot collects around objects. The bright circles underneath are what the rest of the counter should look like!

Wildfires can threaten your home in many ways:

We have witnessed several wildfires in the Reno area this year. These fires have displaced families, destroyed homes and possessions.

SERVPRO of Reno East / Central Sparks has responded to homes downwind of the fires that the flames never touched.

Why? Because these homes sustained damage without being involved in the fire.

Some homes downwind of these wildfires sustained smoke damage as heavy smoke filtered through the structures depositing a layer of soot on every surface in the house.

Since smoke residue is acidic, over time, it can:

  • etch into metal and glass.
  • It can yellow plastic items and bond to fabrics.

Cleaning these residues takes specialized processes and experienced technicians. SERVPRO of Reno East / Central Sparks has the experience and equipment to make damages like these, “Like it never even happened.”
